Millibeth Currie comes to us after building her career centered on creating opportunities for others. Her focus as a science educator has centered around empowerment programming. As a National Award Winning educator, she brings experience from teaching and connecting STEM to workforce issues.

25 years ago Currie created an empowerment STEM centered program for girls called, Women in Charge: Engineering Women’s Lives by connecting STEM classrooms with STEM professionals. She enjoys offering experiences that challenge participants to reframe failure as freedom by arming them with new tools and actionable leadership strategies that spark courageous change, and growth. Outside of the

classroom, her expertise in grant writing, assessment, and leading workshops has helped individuals and organizations organize, interpret, and act on information.

After growing up in New Mexico, she attended and graduated from Tulane and went on to Loyola in New Orleans for graduate school. Millibeth is dedicated to serving the Tulane community and is the current President of Tulane’s Alumni Association. She and her husband, Dr. Bill Basco, moved from Charleston, SC as he began as the Chair of Pediatrics at Erlanger. Immediately, Millibeth decided her priority was joining The Women’s Fund, whose mission resonated deeply with her own lifelong focus on women’s issues and empowerment.

Family is the center of her life. She's endlessly proud of her three children and cherishes the trips they take together. The outdoors is their way of connecting with the world whether on a hiking trail, in a National Park, or on the water. While the science junkie in her loves zooming in on the micro view of a flower or insect, she’s equally drawn to art and art collecting, which opens a window into other people’s perspectives.
