Join us with Post Script Pizza to learn about local legislation that affects you and your community and write to our legislators about your support or opposition. It is really important that they hear from their community, and effective advocacy is impactful! This family-friendly monthly group learns, eats pizza, and writes and/or calls legislators together at the Society of Work (110 Somerville Ave, Floor 2r). Drop in on Thursday, January 15 from 6:30-8pm. No experience required! 

Join the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Chattanooga Chapter Inc. at their “Run Woman Run” event on Thursday, January 22 from 6-8pm at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church (1734 East Third Street), where they will have a discussion with local women who have run and held office. Welcome our new board member, Shannan Field! Shannan is the owner and lead advisor of Fieldcrest Financial, LLC, where she provides inclusive, judgment‑free financial guidance to individuals and families across the wealth spectrum. Her path into financial planning began in banking, where she rose from lending assistant to become the first female Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Horizon Bank, SSB in Austin, Texas.

Driven by a long‑held goal to help people gain clarity and confidence around their money, Shannan became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional at age 40. She founded Fieldcrest Financial with a simple mission: to make high‑quality financial advice accessible to anyone who needs it, regardless of their starting point or economic resources.

An Illinois native and graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign, Shannan spent 14 years in Austin with her husband, Ryan, before relocating to Chattanooga in 2022. Since arriving, they have become active supporters of the local arts and nonprofit community, joining the Hunter Museum Chairman’s Circle, the Tennessee Aquarium’s River Society, and becoming Leadership Circle Members of WUTC. Shannan is also proud to support The Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga.

Outside of her work, Shannan is an avid traveler who loves immersing herself in new cultures. Her journeys have taken her from India to South America to South Africa, and she continues to seek out experiences that broaden her perspective. When closer to home, she spends several weeks each year in New Orleans and enjoys exploring her new home state.
